Britain's long tradition of skilled cabinetmaking and joinery has always been the guiding force behind Smallbone's furniture. Smallbone has translated these traditional skills into contemporary collections, 'Alchemy' brings a modern craft aesthetic to both the bedroom and bathroom.
Alchemy's signature is a deep rectangular arch from which drawers and cupboards are suspended. Curved drawers are set within mirrored surrounds and seem intriguingly to 'float'. Materials include black walnut, mirror and nickel; simple but so glamorous - especially when translated into the strong shapes of Alchemy's fitted and freestanding furniture.
The centrepiece is a dramatic bed in walnut and mirror framed by freestanding or 'floating' bedside cupboards. Matching ottomans, tallboys and dressing tables underline Alchemy's dramatic linear styling. For bedrooms and dressing rooms there are fitted or freestanding cupboards, entirely built to order and offering every astonishing custom-made refinement that you would expect from Smallbone. Every material and finish is both a visual and tactile feast and the look can be carried through in its entirety into the bathroom.
